New FREE home insulation fund now available for 2024
Dyson Energy Services has been appointed as a primary installer for a FREE home insulation fund.
Starting last year in February 2023, a new TrustMark-approved grant scheme called the Connected for Warmth Scheme will allow any property that falls into a Council Tax Band between A-D to receive a home survey to insulate their home completely free of charge.
The insulation measures include the following:
- Cavity Wall Insulation
- Loft Insulation
Other benefits when receiving surveys include home energy advice in which households may be eligible for secondary measures, such as smart heating controls for radiators and thermostats. Additionally, you could have up to 10 free LED lightbulbs installed, radiator reflectors, draft-proofing strips, and letterbox brushes, as well as chimney balloons. Collectively, these smaller secondary measures available through the scheme could add up to make a big saving. This would be subject to a survey.
The new fund is an initiative from the National Grid, with AgilityEco in partnership with Affordable Warmth Solution, managing the UK-wide rollout. This is part of a commitment to help homeowners and tenants manage the ever-increasing fuel bills and the cost-of-living crisis caused by inflation.
How to apply for the FREE home insulation fund in 2024?
Any property that falls into a Council-Tax band of A – D will be eligible to apply for free home insulation. This is subject to relevant checks and a home survey, to assess whether your home is suitable for cavity insulation and insulating your loft. If you already have loft insulation, you may be eligible for a top-up.
Not sure what Council Tax Band your home is in? You can check your Council Tax band by visiting the government’s ‘Check your Council Tax band’ website.
If you are an owner-occupier, the team may carry out a Land Registry check for proof of ownership. There are other ways of evidencing you are the owner-occupier of your home, such as providing a mortgage statement for example. If you are a private tenant, then permission from the landlord would be sought.
Once a survey and assessment are carried out to check your home is suitable for free home insulation, and proof of ownership/landlord’s permission is granted, an installation date at a convenient date and time to suit you would be arranged.
If I already have loft insulation, can I still apply?
Yes. If your existing loft insulation is less than 7.5 inches (200mm) thick, then the scheme will fully fund a top-up to the recommended standard of 270mm.
Do I need to be on benefits to be eligible?
Unlike the ECO Grant Schemes, homeowners, tenants, and landlords do not need to receive any benefits. Eligibility is purely based on the Council-Tax band and a home energy survey.
What areas can apply for free home insulation?
The fund is available across the United Kingdom and delivered by several main contractors appointed by AgilityEco as part of the Connected for Warmth Scheme.
Due to the Nationwide coverage of Dyson Energy Services, the company will be in control of the largest area coverage. If your property falls into one of the postcodes listed in orange on the map below, you can apply for a home energy survey via our website here:

What are the advantages of insulating my home?
There are lots of advantages to living in a well-insulated home. Households with no insulation or inadequate levels of insulation are losing heat and energy from their homes. This can easily be prevented by insulating your walls and the roof space, which will lower energy bills, improve the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating, and reduce carbon emissions – future-proofing your home.

When can I get my survey?
You can apply online from today and a Dyson home energy expert will contact you and arrange an appointment. We expect this fund to be extremely popular and appointments will be given at the earliest convenience.
What does the home survey involve?
A home energy survey will be arranged at a time and date to suit you. Another benefit of taking advantage of this energy efficiency scheme is that you will receive a free Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), which gives you valuable insight into the energy efficiency of your home. A qualified Assessor will check whether your property is suitable for home insulation. The Assessor will require access to your loft to check the existing levels of insulation (if any), to see whether your loft space requires additional insulation to bring it up to the recommended standard of 270mm. The Assessor will also check your walls, to see if they are suitable for cavity wall insulation. This may involve drilling a couple of holes in the external walls and using a borescope to check the size of the cavities and whether they are insulated.
The Assessor will also assess whether there are any ventilation requirements whilst carrying out the survey.
What if I need to cancel the appointment?
We understand that life can get in the way and if you need to cancel an appointment, please let the team know at least 24 hours before the scheduled time.
The bill payer will need to be available while we survey your home. This is because you will be required to understand the advice that is given and also confirm what energy-saving measures you want to be installed.
*Subject to survey and funding availability
What if my postcode is not in the orange area on the map?
You can still contact us and we can advise on a survey.
Hi, would your cavity wall inspection be able to tell if the existing insulation in the wall is all the way up to the roof level or if it has settled (so not all the way up to the roof level). I’m pretty certain my walls are filled with beads (1970/80’s house), but I have no idea if they still go up to the roof.
