Spreading hope this Easter: Supporting Food Banks in the community
In 2022/23 around 2.99 million people used a foodbank in the UK. Food Banks provide essential support and emergency food to people who are in need.
The cost-of-living crisis impacts many households. Particularly in the colder winter months, many must make the difficult decision between choosing to keep food on the table or heat their homes.
At Dyson Energy Services, we help households every day to improve the energy efficiency of their homes so that they can save money on their energy bills and benefit from living in warm healthier homes.
Dyson Energy Services is passionate about supporting local causes and appreciates the challenges households face across the country. That’s why, last year at Christmas, we were proud to support a Food Bank close to each of our main operational offices, with the aim of helping those in our local communities.
We were delighted with the response to the appeal. Colleagues across the organisation kindly donated food and toy parcels which helped support lots of families.
We didn’t want to stop there.
Easter joy: more than 360 Eggs delivered to children
A little over a month ago, we initiated an internal appeal among colleagues at Dyson Energy Services, urging support for our Easter Egg campaign. Our goal was to provide a delightful chocolate treat to families and their children this Easter.
Together, we collected over 360 Easter Eggs and delighted to spread a little joy by delivering the donations to:
- Hope Newsome Food Bank
- The Eastleigh Pantry
- Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen and Food Bank
- The Northampton Abbey Centre Community Fridge
Hope Newsome Food Bank
Paul Wood, Warehouse Assistant at Dyson Energy Services, delivered a parcel of goodies to Hope Newsome Food Bank in Huddersfield which is close to our head office in Brighouse.
Alissa Paul from the Hope Newsome Food Bank said, “A simple item such as an Easter Egg, makes such a difference to families who have to budget what they spend. Easter Eggs and treats do not always fit into a weekly budget, but the kindness and generosity of others helps them to enjoy the things that we all take for granted.”
Together, we created 82 Easter packs for the children, providing each child with an Easter egg, colouring book, and colouring pencils for fun festive activities.
Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen and Food Bank
A representative from the Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen and Food Bank said, “Can we say a massive thank you to Lisa Brown who once again collected donations from her work colleagues at Dyson Energy Services, friends & family. Collectively they donated over 200 Easter eggs and chocolate goodies alongside a huge food shop. We are so lucky to have such great supporters who are always ready to jump into action whenever we need support. Thank you.”
The Northampton Abbey Centre Community Fridge
Louise Edmonds, Office Supervisor at the Dyson Northampton office said, “Well done to everyone who has donated. All the donations are going to a great cause. There will be a lot of happy children this Easter.”
The Eastleigh Pantry
Our team at our Southampton office have donated generously for a fantastic not-for-profit organisation, The Eastleigh Pantry. They offer a ‘helping hand’ for anyone in need of support to manage and budget in difficult times.
